Wilderness

Monday 20 September 2010 - -

Saplin work today. Benniboy arrived a bit earlier and found the saplin treeswing with a new stick in it. Benniboy removed it as it was unsafe and we don't want muggles being attracted to the saplin.

We took the next biggest tree from the saplin base. Hoisted it up and tied up the near end with blue rope. Then Ali G tied the pink rope to the far end, while Benniboy made a crane on the left of the "Y". We pulled the other end up, as usual the stupid tree branches below got in the way. We still managed to ascend it quickly. Benniboy grabbed the far end and tied the blue rope around it. He wrapped the blue rope around the "Y" branch and pulled it while pushing the tree into position. Once it was on the branch, we shoved it across, untied the pink rope, retied to near end and attached to a hank crane. Ali G untied the near side blue rope and we shoved the tree towards the "Y", raised it up and then pushed it back into the perfect slot. We had another tree up, in a very speedy time.

There are now 3 trees up on the far side of level 6, and 3 trees on the near side. Level 6 is becoming very big, around 10m by 4m.

We tried positioning the heavy tree a bit better. After a few tries Benniboy managed to lift the far heavy side up and to the right. This made the angle better for pushing the near end on more. Unfortunately, it wasn't much of an improvement. We tried chiseling some of the branch that was in the way, after getting the bark off, we found some bright, smooth, wet, sticky tree.

We then heard some muggles at the treeswings. We were on level 6 and so could easily see the treeswing area. We saw a junior and looked like parent walk past the treeswings. After they had left, we went and got a long fence plank and a thick one from the ground. We hoisted them up and placed the long plank on the far side of level 6. It was getting dark and Ali G had dinner reservations, so we concluded there.
