Treehouse goes into Lockdown Mode

Saturday 26 March 2011 - -

We met at the wilderness at around 11:50 and quickly deployed to the Treehouse. Nobody had climbed the Treehouse and the hatch worked a treat, we added a few planks back to the walls to try and give us some much needed cover. But we were out of nails and didn't have anymore locks for the lower hatch. So we decided to venture to St. Albans to go and get some new supplies.

We climbed down and Ben said he was leaving the saw on level 2, he locked the hatch before driving off. A guy behind beeped Benniboy and as a result he did some crazy driving through St. Albans. We parked at the free parking spot and went to Wilko's where we got some stronger hinges, some 75mm nails and another lock. Afterwards we deployed to the poundshop where we got new paintbrushes and a stronger lock. We went to Tops Pizza before leaving and the guy let us do a deal despite it not being a weekday. We then started driving back to the wilderness when Benniboy spotted wilderness legend Tom Aley. We turned around and followed him down a dead end, where Benniboy pulled up and we had a quick chat. He told us he gets paid £8 per hour for being a ticket warden and he said that he doesn't even issue tickets, he just plays on his phone.

Once back at the Wilderness we saw a lot of people who were tiding up the wilderness, adults, kids and grannys all with litter pickers and bin bags, cleaning up the rubbish. We finished the pizza and deployed into the depths of the wilderness and to our amazement, the saw bag was on the floor along with an England flag. We had been beaten again, in a matter of an hour they had overcome our newly placed hatch and embarrassed us, by destroying part of a singular wall to crawl in. However there was no other evident damage but they took their saw back.

This meant that the Treehouse had to go into lock down mode. This meant that the security still wasn't good enough and we had to improve it to stop any further attacks.

We rebuild some of the walls, added 3 structures to the wall that they destroyed and a further 3 planks/structures to the upper part of the wall to further secure it. All windows made by them have been dramatically reduced, including those on level 2. The Fence wall gap is minimal, along with the gaps on the north wall. The main gap in level 1 floor has a structure plank, eliminating the element of climbing through.

Here are some pictures of the new security:

New lower structures and the vertical structures to protect the horizonal planks.
All 3 north walls gaps, dramatically reduced.
Fence wall gap made minimal, was originally about 6 fence pannels gap, now only a meer 2.
North wall raised and the other wall almost restored to how it originally was.

Level 2 north wall almost fully restored.
