Extreme Treeswing Under Construction

Wednesday 2 November 2011 - -

We have moved on from the treehouse burning. We are now focusing on a new project: Extreme Treeswing.

We bought a hack saw from wilkos for around £8. It is designed for cutting branches and timber. We tested it on a small branch, it smoothly cut through it in no time. The only disadvantage to the hack saw is that it is large and hard to conceal from the prying eyes of muggles.

We went back to the wilder with the hack saw wrapped in a jumper. It was at sunset, there were no muggles to be seen. The boards are still on the treehouse tree. Benniboy climbed up and added some more nails to the boards, so they could be used as handles.

We got some planks from the chalk ditch. Benniboy added one to the treehouse tree. We then had to deploy as there seemed to be a lot of muggles about.

By the next wilder study we were ready to start sawing. Benniboy used the harness and rope for safety. Nh attatched the saw to the end of the rope and Benniboy pulled it up. While holding on to the plank handle and standing on a branch, Benniboy started to saw into the branch. The hack saw gradually went deeper in to the tree. After about 10 minutes of sawing, Benniboy had to stop due to muggles.

We have since been a couple more times. We aim to go just as it's getting dark, so we aren't disrupted by muggles. We have got at least a quarter of the way into the branch, maybe up to half way.
