Tournament finale and the last supper!

Friday 24 September 2010 - -

Today was the last day when all 3 treeswingboys would meet until the Christmas holidays as Ali G is returning to Uni this weekend.

Ali G and Benniboy arrived early afternoon and proceeded immediately to the sapling castle. They quickly ascended and got a new branch up which they hammered in as a side rail/ladder on level 3 leading up to level 4. We also moved the heavy tree into a better position, which was a bit higher.

Conditions were cold, wet and windy today as its now getting towards winter. Ali G and Nh believe that sapling and treehouse work will have to be abandoned during the cold of the winter months but Benniboy thinks the treeswingboys should continue to build during the winter and even has the cheek to suggest sleeping up the treehouse one night. However it is likely to be to dangerous climbing in the winter as the branches are much slippier and it is hard to get grip when your hands are cold.

As it was coming up to the time when Nh gets home from work Ali G and Benniboy descended the sapling, took a quick scout around the local vicinity, we saw some magi mushrooms. Then we evacuated from the wilderness. Benniboy went to collect Nh to preserve Ali G's petrol.

When they returned the triology of treeswingers marched onto the field to play some ball. This was the first leg of the tournament, field football, which we had started yesterday at the Wreck and would complete today at the New Greens field. The second leg would be wilderness football at wembley and the third and final leg would be volleyball again on the field. The match between Ali G and Benniboy had stopped yesterday due to rain so we started by continuing with it. It was 1-0 to Ali G from the Wreck match so he had a good opportunity to win the game. It ended 3-1 to Ali G with a perfectly placed goal in the bottom left corner to seal the deal. Next was Ali G vs Nh which was a game with some great long range efforts and ended up 3-1 to Nh.

We then proceeded to Wembley, our unique and specially designed wilderness stadium where you never know whether the balls going to hit a tree or a bump in the ground and can lead to some very entertaining goal mouth scrambles. Nh chose to challenge Ali G for the first match was was closely contested but again lead to Nh winning 3-1. The next match was Ali G vs Benniboy. Benniboy had to win this one to have a good change of avoiding the forfeit but he didn't seem to be trying to hard and Ali G was putting in a lot of effort. Ali G had so many shots and may even have set the record of number of shots in a game. However Nh put in a good perfomance in goal so most of Ali G's shots continued to be saved. After a great number of shots from Ali G without scoring Benniboy managed to pull one back making it 1-1. Nh thought Ali G had squandered his chance of winning as the impetus now lay with Benniboy. However Ali G managed to get another one in lightning speed surprsing everyone. The game went on for a while longer and the next main event was when Nh cleared the ball by kicking it into the air and as Benniboy tried to control it it hit the ground and bounced up against the arm. It was a blantant penalty despite Benniboys excuses. Everyone thought the match had gone to Ali G as he only needed to score this penalty to win. However although the shot was powerful it was straight at the goalkeeper and Nh managed to parry it away. Ali G saw his opportunity and pounced, sprinting forwards with maximum velocity and volleying a rocket of a shot over the goalkeeper's head. Benniboy claimed he didn't know about playing on after a penalty but this is one of the oldest rules in the book and any self respecting Match of the Day viewer should know that. (tut tut). Benniboy's fate rested on the next match against Nh as it would almost impossible to avoid that garlic sauce if he lost his forth match in a row. Not only did he need to win but he needed to win by 3-1 or better. However after a tense and dramatic game and a goal mouth scramble conclusion it ended 3-2 to Benniboy. He knew his fate was garlic sauce and he consigned himself to oblivion.

The final leg was volleyball. Only Ali G and Benniboy needed to play as if Ali g won the garlic sauce was Benniboy's. It was a closely fought game, up to 15, and was 14-12 to Ali G when Nh started filming. However to everyones disbelief Benniboy managed to level to playing field to 14-14. It all rested on the final point. Ali G served Benniboy returned well and Ali G trying to return the shot. However it struck the crossbar and looked like it was all over as Benniboy screamed 'yes I won' just as Ali G managed to get a hand to it and tipped it over. Benniboy was crushed by this last minute defeat which he thought he'd won whilst Ali g and Nh were elated at Benniboy's misfortune.

Benniboy went to his car and got the half year old garlic and managed to swallow most of it as Nh's phone camera run out of memory. Next Nh and Ali G wanted a papa as it would be the last supper of the summer. However Benniboy had agreed to meet uni friends an hour ago. Benniboy lived up to his bunking reputation and agreed to get a papa if we dropped his forfeit which was a fair deal as we will challenge him again in the winter. We proceeded to papa johns which was busy and got All the Meats and BBQ Chicken. We went back to the New Greens estate to eat and Ali G managed 7 slices which makes him joint holder of the record with Nh. Benniboy only managed 4 despite not having lunch. We concluded there and the treeswingboys went their separate ways until the winter when they will be reunited for another wilderness season. Nh and Benniboy will no doubt continue the treehouse while Ali G is absent and he looks forward to seeing their progress and hearing their tales of mischief and muggle in the wilderness. For now farewell, Ali G (treeswinger 2007-2010, secondary driver of the treeswingboys, co-founder of the wilderness, treeswings, bridge and sapling castle and sole founder of wembley stadium).
