Crate Retrieval

Thursday 28 October 2010 - -

We met at 6.47pm, there was a lot of traffic on the way back to the roundabout. We went right just after driving up the hill, then Nh showed me the target crate. There was now another crate in the skip. We parked up and had a quick walk around the crate area. Benniboy grabbed the crate, while Nh got a board from the skip. We took the timber into the small forest.

We had the saw and tried cutting the crate, this wasn't very effective. So we decided to go and get the hammer/claw. We emptied the boot and moved the car. Benniboy went and got the crate while Nh looked out. Benniboy carried the crate towards Nh, but couldn't really see him, Nh was trying to tell Benniboy that there was someone on the path, Benniboy eventualy saw the muggle. Luckily they carried on walking, without looking. We then enter the field and walked along the edge, behind some trees.

We carried the crate quite far, to the other side of the field. We stopped near a playground, behind some bushes. We were in a dark place, qite far from the houses, but still had to be careful and not too loud. We used the claw and hammer technique. The planks kept on splitting and some were snapped off on one side. So we got off the few on one side and then smacked the 4 thick planks off.

We hammered the sticking out nails in, then stack them up and carried them to the side of the road, under a tree. We went and got the car, parked in a dark spot next to a big bush. Nh went and got a batch and then gave to Benniboy who arranged them in the boot. We timed it right, everytime Nh went back to get some timber, a car went past, then none came as he crossed the road. We got them all in nicely and set off in relief.

While driving to the wilder, we saw 2 police cars. We arrived at the wilder and got the planks in using the same system. Nh wore his headtorch, Benniboy found the one in the bag to be broken. We got to the treehouse and had no flags to tie the planks up with, Nh found some sisal and throwed it down. We managed to get them up in 2 batches.

They were all to long for the lower wal parts. So we added them to the side of the steps. We put a couple on the lower walls. Most of the walls on level one are almost complete now. Just the south wall and the stick wall to be finished.

Benniboy went up to level 2 and Nh passed all remaining timber up. It seemed really dark and separate on level 2, now that most of the floor is done.

We descended. Then when we were both down, Nh realised he had left his coat on level 1. Benniboy quickly went up and retrieved it. We exited the wilder and Benniboy needed some more petrol.

We went the local petrol station. Benniboy put in £8.02. He went to get some cash out and it said he didn't have enough. He had money on his american card, but they wouldnt accept it. Nh had left his wallet at home. He only had £2.50 cash. The guy said if he couldn't pay, he would have to leave the car there. Luckily the guy said you can pay by phone, so he called his mom and got her to pay.

We then deployed home, after a good days wilder work.
