Level 1 Structure Reinforcement, Bonus Crate + Compliment

Sunday 31 October 2010 - -

With the half retrieved crate both on our minds, we set out in hope that it would still be there waiting for us. We quickly arrived at the vicinity of the wilderness and deployed down the road to where the crate was. Luckily it still lay exactly where we had left it, it was so close yet so far. However it quickly turned into a horror show as there was a large band of ever increasing treeswingers further down the road. There was no way we could get the crate in front of them and to make matters worse 2 of them on bikes were heading our way, so we crossed the road and went back to the cars. We sat in the fiesta and kept an eye on the treeswingers and decided we would get the bags and try again. Nh stood inside the wilderness keeping watch whilst Benniboy went for the kill. He managed to bring it to the end of the road but Nh was signaling that Lewis's dad was outside, so Benniboy bailed and dropped the crate, scurrying back to the wilderness. Nh decided he would go and finish the job which benniboy had consistantly failed in finishing. It took a while waiting for the right moment but here is the result:

With the crate retrieved and safely in the wilderness, we headed for the treehouse, on the way we saw a very suspicious looking elderly man. He was carrying a long, bendy stick and a saw in his other arm. He progressed, exchanging looks, both curious at what the other was up to. We placed the crate down for a rest and heard him snapping sticks, this gave us the idea to snap off the weaker planks and make the crate lighter. It worked nicely and we had a better method of carrying it. Once at the treehouse we quickly dismantled the crate, double falg wrapped it and took it up to level 1.

We laid the large batch on level one. We got all the thick planks, 3 of which were from the new batch. We worked out good places for them to go, so that they would support the 2 main structures and add places for flooring to be laid.

Benniboy climbed below and placed a plank near the climbing up area, we put 2 65mm nails under the plank to hold it. Benniboy then hammer it in with 100's. He then managed to climb across to the north side. We did the same technique, just with a bit more challenge.

During this structure installment, an older man walked past. Benniboy was under the treehouse on the north side and completely visible. They nice old man shouted "Is it watertight?" Benniboy replied " Almost." The nice old man also notice that we were building another level, he admired it for a few seconds, then kindly said "That's really good!", this was a great complement, said will complete sincerity. This made our day.

For the other 2 strutcture Benniboy had to use the harness, while Benniboy put it on and tied up the rope, Nh sawed some of the steps. Benniboy got the length exactly right and took into account the stretching. Nh passed the plank and it went into 3 branches nicely. Benniboy then swung inside and added another plank, while securing the 2nd structure with another 65. We had 4 structure planks, 3 of then attaches to the main middle tree. This meant the floor was held by more than, just the 2 big branches.

We deployed to Subway. We got the sub of the day - Spict Italian, Benniboy noticed it was 502 calories, crazy, others were around 350. We also both got 3 cookies. We ate the subs on the way back to the car, they were nice and warm with extra pepperoni. We went back to the wilder and it was just starting to get dark.

We started on the walls. We added a load more to the south wall and some to the top right of the steps. We now have 3 planks above level 2's floor. We used all the timber and called it a day. It was a very productive wilder work day.
