Major Floor Improvements - Treeswingers in Wilder in Dark?

Monday 29 November 2010 - -

We arrived at the wilder at 4.30pm, it was already dark. While walking towards it all we could see was a big black cube up a tree. We took all the supplies and ascended the dark treehouse. We had the circle light resting on level 2 structures, lit up the whole of level 1 nicely.

We got a few of the mdf boards from level 2 and tested to see if they would fit at the bottom of the steps. A square shaped one almost fit, just need cutting on a corner a bit. We laid it on the floor and had the corner hanging over the hatch area. Benniboy quickly sawed the edge off.

We tested it again, needed a bit more off. We took a centremeter off, then it fit snug. It wobbled a bit on the structure plank beneath it, as the bottom step wasn't exactly the same height. We shoved some small mdf and plank pieces under it, this level it out perfectly.

Benniboy hammered it down with 65's and a couple of 100's. Benniboy stamped it with approval, followed by Nh's approval. It has to be one of our best floors, very sturdy and level. Makes descending from the steps much easier. Plus stops muggles from looking up and seeing us. Seals off the bottom of the steps, just need couple of planks on right lower.

we removed a rubbish pound shop square and tile. Clawed it out. We can use the bits to level out other boards.

We got a rectangle mdf piece and placed it infront of the square piece. It fit across to the south wall. We just had to cut an edge off and remove a Y bit that was stick out, but was holding in the left main structure beam. We tried sawing it but it was at an awkard angle, so we clubbed it.

We pushed the board down into place. It fit tight and was pretty level. We hammered in 65's. When we heard some shuffling. We stopped to listen, no more sounds were made. We then heard treeswinger mopeds. Benniboy quickly turned the circle light off. Nh turned off the headlight. We waited in the darkness, until our eyes could see out and below. We could no longer here the mopeds, but it sounded like they were in the wilder.

We finished up the board, it still needs some support on one corner, but we left it at that. It was around 6pm. We descended, it was cold on the ground. The treehouse is definitely warmer, even thought there are still a lot of gaps. Benniboy had previously dropped the circles light while packing up. We found it below, with 2 batteries missing, we found one. Benniboy had left the saw up the top, so quickly went up and retrieved it.

We exited the wilder, it was soo cold. We were fine up the treehouse, Benniboy was even getting too hot while sawing. Shows the treehouse will defintely be a habitable place for a sleepover.
