Hooded Treeswinger Spotted Retreating in the Darkness

Monday 6 December 2010 - -

We went to the wilder today. Got there at 4.40pm. It was dark and misty. The paint seemed to be frozen, but we weren't planning on using it anyway. Nh had arrived behind a police car. So we quickly went across the field and into the shelter of the wilderness.

We climbed the treehouse, it was pitch black. Benniboy had brought another torch, a nice bright £1 shop one, that we bought a while ago. Benniboy harnessed outside the east wall. Nh set up the light and got the planks ready. We continued the top half of the outer east wall. Only needed a few of the planks, as they were about 1.5 time wider than the regular planks. We got it up to the same height as the inner wall. Benniboy could see the heat floating out of the top gap.

Benniboy then came back in throught the lower left gap. Was nice and warm and well lit inside the house. We decided to finish the inner wall. We used the wide planks to complete the lower left gap. Only had to put in about 4 and we were done. The east wall has no major gaps now, just needs the very left side outer wall, to double it up and get rid of all the little gaps.

We packed up and moved all the structure timber onto level 2. Nh then started descending, but suddenly said "Shush!" He said there was something there. Benniboy quickly turned the bright light off. We waited in silence in the darkness. We didn't hear anything else, so we descended.

We walked towards the lower exit. We were talking about the gaps in the floor and the future goal of a double hatch. Then just before we got to the field, we saw a hooded treeswinger, speed walking (like jc) out of the lower entrance, and up acrosse the road corner. We waited till he was far up the path.

Did he here us talking about the treehouse? Did he understand our wilderness language? Had he seen the light from the treehouse?

He seemed intimidated by us. But, he might have fellow treeswingers that he can bring back with him. Are they planning an ambush on the treehouse? We are definitely going to install a hatch soon.
