Hatch frame up and ready

Wednesday 23 March 2011 - -

Today we went back to the wilder. It looked like no one had been up the treehouse. There was just a flag that we had got stuck up high in the tree, it was lower down and had some rope tied rounf the middle.

We removed their 2 structure steps. Benniboy got the first one out easily. The next one had a 150mm nail in it. he had to twist it and bend it, while trying not to fall out of the tree. Eventually he gave it a hard pull and then the end hit him on the ear and cut the inside of his ear.

Next we started building the hatch. We used strong structure planks. We sawed them to the correct size. Doubled one of them up, for extra strength. We hammered them in with 100's.

A dog walker came and said "Did the wind destroy your treehouse?" We told him some treeswingers vandalised it. He said probably because they were jealous.

We had a square frame. It was strong and pretty level. The hatch is small, but easy to get through. Climbing down was the same, if not easier - especially as we had removed their structures.
