Treehouse 2 development dilemma

Thursday 19 May 2011 - -

We went back the treehouse vol.2 today, to try and complete the steps up and the basic frame. Benniboy picked up Nh and we parked the miata in the small lane. We went straight to the tree. It was all the same, quite obvious there were structures going up it.

We got the 2 planks we had hidden at the tree. Then added some more nails to the current steps and looked at places to add the next structure. Then a dog walker came by, she looked at what we were doing, while walking past.

This tree was the first good one we had seen and we had maybe chosen it to quickly, without evaluating it more. We were using all the wood to build steps up the tree and it seemed like a good location at first, but there have been a few dog walkers.

We decided to go and explore the wilderness a bit more, to see if there were any better trees. We didn't want to make the same mistake again, having a tree on a path and having to deal with multiple muggles.

The treehouse needed two requirements:

- Location: that is off paths, away from houses, camoflaged, close for timber carrying, muggle free.
- Tree: strong trunks, 4 to 6 trunks, high, good branches, expandibility, not to narrow/wide.

We went a bit deeper and found 2 good trees, but the location was still a bit open. Some dog walkers and a treeswinger walked nearby. We went arounf to the left and where the houses were. There were some very good trees here, but they were right in the view of the houses.

Then we came across a small treehouse, just outside the back of someones house.

There were 2 treeswings and 2 levels. It looked like a dad had made it for his kids.

We came back round to the treehouse, and found some dog walkers standing around the treehouse area. We walked past and looked for other potential trees.

We went down an offroad path and found a couple of well camoflaged trees. The trees had 3 trunks and were of a good width. The expandability wouldn't be that good.

We went back to the treehouse tree and the muggles were still there, so we went back round past where we hid the timber.

We deployed back to the car and decided to postpone the treehouse development, and just focus on timber collection. We would wait till the third treeswinger returns, to get his opinion on the tree.
